Death in the Box Guide

Secrets, badges and closed routes

Start with badges if you want a clear goal in Death in the Box. The game's Roblox badge list currently has eight enabled entries. Historical lobby secrets are a different kind of target: the community reference describes several closed or seasonal routes, so an old walkthrough may send you to an entrance that no longer opens.

The old cave hatch is described as disabled, and the DJ Room's Disco Ball effect as unobtainable. Do not wait an hour at the hatch expecting the old opening schedule to work.

The eight enabled badges

These names and goals come from Roblox's badge descriptions, checked on October 7, 2026. Enabled means the badge is active on Roblox; it does not prove that every event needed for it is available in every lobby or that an award trigger has no bugs.

BadgeThe described requirement
Play a round of DITB!Play a full round.
Win a game of DITB!Win a game.
Still standing!Survive because you had a shield card.
Killer!Successfully eliminate a player.
Vengeance!Use a vengeance card.
Dodge!Dodge a knife thrown by the clown.
Double Death!Receive duplicate death cards.
Puppet in the Box!Get three extra cards from the rare puppet event.

Use the official game's Badges section to inspect these entries and your ownership. The requirements are different: surviving a match does not automatically satisfy every combat or card badge.

Choose a goal you can influence

Playing a full round is a straightforward first target. The dodge badge gives you a reason to learn the live knife prompt. Winning asks you to survive the whole match, so it makes sense after you understand the main event families.

Other badges depend on the hand or event you receive. Duplicate death cards and the rare puppet event are not reliable targets for a fixed number of matches. Do not promise yourself that replaying an unrelated lobby action will force them to appear.

For Still standing, the official description names a shield card. Do not translate that into "any helpful card": a different card may have another trigger or exception. For Vengeance, inspect the actual card rather than assuming an ordinary elimination fulfills the named card requirement.

If the game displays an award, check the badge on Roblox after the round. If it does not appear, verify the requirement and ownership before repeating the same action. This guide cannot grant a missing badge or determine an account-specific award failure.

Why the cave walkthrough no longer works

The community Secrets page describes an old tunnel outside the lobby barrier, a hatch, a damaging maze and a DJ Room. It also states that the hatch's former short hourly opening was disabled and that the cave became abandoned.

That is the important distinction when following a video: a route can accurately show a past version and still fail today. A visible landmark outside the tent does not establish that the maze remains open. Waiting for an old timer, resetting repeatedly or following the same historic fence gap will not prove otherwise.

The Wizard Clown, pits and DJ Room belong to that cave history. Treat them as descriptions of what players encountered when the route was open, rather than current step-by-step reward instructions. The community page calls the Disco Ball effect unobtainable; do not mistake a cosmetic owned by another player for evidence that new players can still claim it.

Seasonal secrets need a current event

The same reference associates the Suspicious Mushroom with the 2025 Halloween update and describes its display reward as unobtainable. A mushroom in a video therefore does not establish an active 2026 reward route.

Before chasing a seasonal object, look for a current developer announcement and an interactive object in the live lobby. Check the date as well as the game name. Search results and uploaded clips can outlive the event they describe by many months.

A limited item can also remain visible in an owner's inventory after its obtaining method closes. Ownership screenshots answer "did this item exist?"; they do not answer "can I earn it now?" Avoid spending cash or buying a pass on the assumption that it opens a discontinued secret.

Developer events are a separate case

The community reference describes some Backrooms access through a developer command, alongside historical routes. A clip recorded in a developer-run session is not a normal lobby tutorial. Joining a public server does not guarantee the same command or event will be available.

Do not install scripts, share your Roblox login or pay an unrelated player to "unlock" a secret described in an old guide. Use official game controls and developer announcements. If a future update reopens a route, its current instructions should replace the archived directions.

For now, use event survival and card behavior to work toward the ordinary badge goals. They give you useful practice even when a rare event or retired cosmetic is outside your control.
